Parish Council Meeting Minutes

Members Present:
Lesa Clark, Bud Kehew, Bill Bryan, Butch Borchers, Ronda Spears, Don Schendt, Rick Wright, Msgr. Gaalaas, Joan Hayes, Brent Forth, Brian Tiernan, Charlotte Richert, Sara Alsdorf

President Joan Hayes called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm.

Brent Forth led the opening devotional.

Bill Bryan moved that the minutes from the March meeting be approved. Don Schendt seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

Pastor’s report:
Msgr. reported that the Parish has received two sizable monetary gifts; details of the purposes for which the money is to be used are explained in the Finance Committee report. The Parish Council also suggested that building a vestibule for the church ought to be considered for the funds use, so that visiting, selling tickets, etc. do not have to take place in the back of the sanctuary. Msgr. also suggested the need for a focus group or committee to look at long-range plans for the parish so that we can best utilize the 13 acres of parish property.

Director of Ministries – No report.
Ministry of Consolation – No report.

Welcoming Committee – No report.

General:
Parish Council Service Project – members will meet at 3pm April 27th to prepare the food and will leave the church at 5pm to go to the Homeless Center to serve the meal.

30th Anniversary Celebration Committee – No report. The group will meet April 23rd.

Leadership and Spirituality Retreat – Abbott Rooney will be here Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13th. Friday 9/12 will be the 50th anniversary of his ordination as a monk.

Parish Survey Committee – the Committee met and will be paring down and reformulating the current survey. They will meet again on May 13th.

New Business–
Parish Council Discernment – will take play May 18th at 3pm for the discernment of new members. Don, Charlotte, Butch, Joan, and Lesa indicated that they definitely will be there. All council members are encouraged to attend.

Estate Planning – a committee is being put together to organize a seminar.

None

The next Parish Council meeting will be Tuesday, May 27th, 2008. It will be the annual year-end dinner.

Msgr. Gaalaas led the Council in a closing prayer.

The Council meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM.
