STATUS LINE:
There will be a meeting of all PIC members, Group Leaders and Assistant Leaders, Oversight Committee Members together on Thursday, November 13th from 7:00 - 8:00 pm to discuss the future direction of the ministry. The meeting will be held in the Community Room and led by Msgr. Gaalaas and Kate Forbes, PIC Coordinator. MORE.
PARTNERS IN CHRIST COMMUNITY OUTREACH APPEAL:
Our last delivery was in early December and made use of most everything in storage. Our list of families to assist has grown to a total of 5 in the past 2 weeks - all referred to us from Catholic Charities! All have very similar situations except for one family - single parent with children that are in need of all types of furniture (living room, bedroom, baby beds, bunk beds, all types of beds, kitchen tables, lamps, etc) plus linens (sheets, blankets, towels) and kitchen needs (small appliances, microwaves, silverware, dishes). TVs, VCRs, DVDs are also in need. Anyone interested in donating new or gently used items described above, please contact Kate Forbes by leaving a message at 299-9406, ext. 300. Feel free to drop off items marked, "PIC" at the church office or check with Kate on pick-up options.
HOW YOU CAN HELP CURRENT PIC CASES/COMMUNITY OUTREACH:
Computers/Printers and individually packaged snacks are still needed for an after school program at a church in north Tulsa. If you would like to donate, please drop-off at St. Bernard's marked PIC Case 17. Community Outreach: A hearing impaired musician (plays violin) needs a new or used CD player that has 2 speakers so he can better differentiate the sounds from the cds he checks out from the library. A single mom with 3 daughters whose home burned and now reside in west Tulsa housing needs king size mattress pad/blanket, curtains/mini-blinds, drinking glasses, lamps, microwave, toaster, pots/pans, rugs or carpet remnants. Remaining needs for our 2 Katrina families (single moms with 5 kids, 6 kids) include: beds (any size), pillows, curtains and bedroom furniture. Our family from Nevada (mom, dad, 2 toddler boys) still needs a washer, twin bed, frame for full size bed and bedroom furniture. Another family (mom, son-19 yrs) needs a sofa cover (plain fabric, if possible). If you are interested in donating any of these items (new or used), please let Kate Forbes know by leaving a message at 299-9406, ext. 300. NOTE: When dropping them off at the church OFFICE (not in bins), please mark as PIC Outreach. Only include case number if specified above.
SPECIAL NEED - For one family, transportation is a tremendous barrier and complicating the job search and self sufficiency. Anyone interested in donating a car and/or helping secure a car at LOW cost that PIC might manage (or the second family), please call Kate at 299-9406.
